Jerry Springer’s Talk Show Caused A Florida Prison Fight

Many might be surprised to learn that Jerry Springer’s show—a funhouse of horrors that features angry guests and very breakable chairs—is still on the air. Fewer people might be surprised to learn that the talk show is causing fights off-screen too. In prisons.

According to TMZ, a Florida inmate is being brought up on felony charges after he attacked a fellow inmate who wasn’t as into watching loud people throw fists at each other over shocking confessions.

From TMZ:

According to law enforcement, 32-year-old Antron Smith was ready to watch the 4 PM airing of ‘Springer’ — a daily routine. The  problem — other inmates were watching a movie. Smith demanded to switch the station to ‘Springer’ and that’s when inmate Donnie Floyd “spoke up.”

In true “Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!” fashion, Smith didn’t just punch Floyd, he “forced his head back, slapped him” and then finished everything off by flushing Floyd’s commissary food down the nearest toilet. Because, you know, he had to get the message across.

The Smoking Gun reports that due to the assault, Smith has had to miss several episodes of Jerry Springer, including one where people hit each other with chairs.
