Julian Assange has been living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for the past three years as he’s fought against being extradited to Sweden to face sexual assault charges there. But while Assange believes that the extradition to Sweden is just a ploy to get him to The United States to face charges of leaking sensitive information, the creator of WikiLeaks also knows that he has no choice but to surrender to authorities if The United Nations find that he’s not being detained illegally.
Here’s the statement Assange posted on Twitter:
Assange: I will accept arrest by British police on Friday if UN rules against me. More info: https://t.co/Mb6gXlz7QS pic.twitter.com/mffVsqKj5w

More information about what Assange submitted to The UN regarding his case can be found here.
According to Assange, living in the Ecuadorian embassy has been brutal. He’s been unable to go outside, receive medical attention (he was once denied a visit to the hospital for an MRI), or have his activities not be monitored or “interrupted.” If The UN finds he’s been treated unjustly, Assange wants to have his passport immediately returned and all attempts to have him arrested ended.
