Lenny Kravitz Told Seth Meyers About His Long-Lasting Friendship With Bill Clinton

As he prepares to perform at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday along with Lady Gaga and DJ Jazzy Jeff, Lenny Kravitz reminded us that it’s not the first time he’s entered the political arena in this capacity as a rock star. The day after performing as a guest on part of the Guns N’ Roses tour, Kravitz stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers to reveal a few stories about his long-lasting relationship with Bill and Hillary Clinton. He also talked about the fact that he and Slash have been friends since high school, back when they both focused on music over their other studies.

The rocker, clad in black leather pants and wraparound shades, told Meyers that he struck up a friendship with the Clintons back in the ’90s when Bill called him up one day unexpectedly. At first, Kravitz said he thought it was a prank, but when Bill got on the line, he invited him to perform at the DNC, and tried to further entice him by mentioning what a “casual” ordeal it would be with Arkansas barbecue and guests in jeans and cowboy boots. Kravitz also recalls a heartfelt story about his immigrant grandfather visiting the White House and striking up a friendship with Bill and Hillary.
