Moby Refused His Invitation To The Trump Inauguration, But He Made A Playlist Anyway

Moby has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump and his campaign for president, penning a very angry letter once the GOP nominee won the presidency back in November. Considering how heated and angry his letter was, it’s a little surprising to read that he received an invitation to play the inauguration in a few weeks. At least that’s what he claims in a Instagram post on Monday:

Now either this is the truth and a hint at that desperation that had been reported about the Trump team’s success in luring people in for the event or Moby is now a joke maker. For Billboard, they took the joke a little further than Moby’s Instagram post and reached out to the singer to find out what he would’ve played at the event if he was there.

The tracklist is about what you’d expect, kicked off by the Public Enemy he mentions in his post. There’s some Sex Pistols, Rage Against The Machine, some Pete Seeger, and John Lennon’s “Imagine.” It’s what you’d expect from someone doing a “protest” playlist, but really it seems a bit too on the nose. Where’s the Huey Lewis? Where’s the Jock Jams? Where’s the Starland Vocal Band on repeat? If the inauguration doesn’t devolve into the finale from PCU, I think we’re doing the nation a disservice.
