The NRA Calls Hillary Clinton A ‘Hypocrite’ Who Wants To Remove Gun Rights In A New Ad

On Tuesday, the National Rifle Association began airing a new anti-Hillary Clinton ad in North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Nevada as part of a $3.1 million dollar ad buy. The ad seeks to paint the Democratic presidential nominee as an “out of touch hypocrite,” who will “leave you defenseless” by taking away gun ownership rights. (Note: This ad dropped around the same time Donald Trump was hinting at “2nd Amendment people” doing something in order to stop Clinton.)

The ad features a Clinton look-alike, who arrives to an airplane hangar in a limousine. As the actress walks across the tarmac and up the stairs into the private jet, a voiceover announces: “She’s one of the wealthiest women in politics. Combined income: $30 million dollars. Tours the world on private jets. Protected by armed guards for 30 years. But she doesn’t believe in your right to keep a gun at home for self-defense.”

Inside the jet, fake Hillary Clinton is watching real Hillary Clinton on television. “I fully appreciate how hard life is for so many Americans today,” television Clinton says, as yet another Clinton look-alike arrives in a flight attendant’s uniform to serve a drink to the first Clinton double.

Back in June, the NRA dropped $2 million on another anti-Clinton ad that featured a Benghazi survivor. “Hillary as President?” Mark Geist asked, strolling through a graveyard. “No thanks. I served in Benghazi. My friends didn’t make it. They did their part. Do yours.” That ad played in Colorado, Ohio, Nevada, Florida, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

Last week, Michael Fifer, CEO of the gun manufacturing giant Sturm Ruger, accused Clinton of “overtly stating that the Supreme Court got it wrong in the Heller case and actively campaigning against the lawful commerce in arms.” This statement came in response to Clinton’s remarks on Fox News Sunday that the second amendment should be “open to and even subject to reasonable regulations.” However (and unlike what Trump believes) Clinton has never expressed a desire to do away with the 2nd Amendment.
