Orlando City SC Gave The Pulse Nightclub Shooting Victims A Unique And Moving Tribute

Orlando City SC took to their home field on Saturday night to face off against the San Jose Earthquakes in an MLS regular season match. It was the city’s first pro sporting event since the Pulse nightclub shooting.

To honor the 49 people that lost their lives in the senseless tragedy, Orlando City held a unique and emotional tribute on the field. Players from both sides walked onto the field and participated in the pregame ceremonies while wearing “Orlando United” shirts. Then, the game’s action ceased for a full 60 seconds at the 49:00 minute mark as everyone in the stadium observed a moment of silence for the victims. All of those in attendance did their job to create for a pretty incredible display of remembrance.

In addition, rainbows could be found all around the stadium in an outpouring of support for the LGBT community.

It’s obviously still a very emotional period for the Orlando community as they mourn those who lost their lives in the mass shooting, but serious credit goes to Orlando City for finding a pretty amazing way to remember and honor the departed on Saturday night.
