A Lexington, Kentucky man, 25-year-old Michael Kerr, faces a slew of charges including being intoxicated and disruptive, assault on a female, and communicating threats after a July 21 incident following a flight from Lexington to Charlotte. In a video shot by passenger Brian Colón, Kerr — who allegedly consumed three Jack Daniels during the one-hour flight — can be seen belligerently demanding that the flight attendant move out of his way, shortly after the plane had landed.
Colón described to the Lexington Herald-Leader what happened shortly before Kerr’s arrest:
“We landed and were taxiing, and waiting for the jet bridge to arrive at the exit door and the man started screaming, ‘let’s go, go’,” Colón said. A flight attendant asked Kerr to sit down, but he refused and followed her into the forward galley.
After the plane came to a complete stop, the captain came out of the cockpit and asked Kerr again to sit down, but he shoved the flight attendant and attempted to get out. The door of the plane was open, but the jet bridge wasn’t in place yet, Colón said.
After Kerr shoved the flight attendant, who was knocked off her feet, the captain can be seen leaping in to save the day, tackling Kerr to the ground and telling him, “You do not put your hands on my flight attendant!” He then proceeded to hold Kerr in place for 15-20 minutes until police arrived.
Kerr was released from jail Monday on $20,000 bond and is banned from flying on commercial airlines. You can watch the entire thing unfold in the video below.
