It appears that Donald Trump campaign merch isn’t all Republican National Convention attendees can expect from their swag bags this year. Also included in the canvas “Trump 2016” tote bag that each convention attendee receives is a tiny, plastic fetus.

The fetal models, called “Young One” and seemingly purchased from Heritage House, are supposed to represent an 11 to 14 week old fetus in the womb. Though only caucasian fetuses appear in photographs, Heritage House also offers “brown” fetal models. Heritage House’s mission statement reads: “We are committed to the sanctity of life at all stages and to the traditional values of the institution we call the family.”
Trump has a messy history with abortion. The Republican nominee told Chris Matthews in March that there should be “some sort of punishment” for women who have abortions. He then later clarified that he meant doctors, not women, should be punished for performing abortions.
The Supreme Court’s June ruling on Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt had the broadest implications for abortion rights and access than any case since Roe v. Wade. The Court ruled to invalidate a Texas law that placed an “undue burden on doctors and clinics” by requiring abortion providers to have hospital admissions privileges and clinics to have surgical outpatient facilities. The Republican party condemned the ruling in their platform, in which they also noted, “We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity of innocent human life.”
These tiny fetus figurines are in the @realDonaldTrump delegate gift bags at #RNCinCLE. No, we're not kidding. https://t.co/OQY2b8lF30
