‘Full Frontal’ Brutally Reviews The Gift That Is Ivanka Trump’s New Book

After taking a moment to hang out with her old pals from The Daily Show on Tuesday, Samantha Bee returned for a new episode of Full Frontal on Wednesday. Much like the rest of the late night world, James Comey’s firing was the top story on the show. But that doesn’t mean it was the most biting part of Bee’s latest episode.

After profiling Ivanka Trump’s new role in the White House a few weeks ago and shoving off to hold her Not The White House Correspondents Dinner, Bee and her staff returned to a gift from Trump and her publisher: a copy of her new book, Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success. This prompts Samantha Bee to drop everything and give the book a proper review, one that isn’t exactly kind to the First Daughter.

Many people have shared their opinions on the book at this point, especially this fine take over at Broadly, but Bee has a full arsenal of clips and an entire staff to help craft the proper dose of venom for responding to the contents of the book. The host points out that there’s plenty of sampling from other books within and a variety of misquotes, including one that is attributed to Aqua Teen Hunger Force creator and voice of Meatwad Dave Willis. Or maybe she’s just a really big fan of Squidbillies and Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell and thought it was his quote. I’d be excited too if I could include a personal hero in a book.

All and all, it is not a flattering reaction to Ivanka Trump’s self-help book. If you’re making Whoopi Goldberg sigh in frustration on national television, you know you’ve either created a dud or you’ve brought up Theodore Rex. Neither end well.
