A Truck Has Crashed Into A Crowded Stockholm Department Store, Killing Multiple People

Reports out of Sweden indicate that a truck has crashed into a department store in central Stockholm, killing at least three people and injuring others. Swedish broadcaster SVT is reporting that shots have been fired, and live footage shows people fleeing the scene. Witnesses say a truck drove past police barricades and through a busy Drottninggatan shopping street, eventally coming to rest inside a department store. The incident took place at 2:53 pm local time on Friday in Drottninggatan, a locality in Stockholm at Ahlens Mall. An Aftonbladet reporter on the scene said police suspected the crash was terror related.

CNN is reporting that authorities are on the scene assessing the damage and helping those injured:

“Some kind of vehicle has been driven into a street full of pedestrians,” Swedish Police spokesman Lars Vilstrom told CNN Friday.

“We have a lot of police officers on the scene. We don’t have numbers yet,” he said.

As of now, there is no confirmed number of injuries, nor suspected motivation, if any, for the event. Swedish police are still assessing the scene. We’ll keep an eye on this story as further information is released by authorities in Sweden.
