Trump Is Asking Supporters To Be ‘Election Observers’ To Make Sure Voting Isn’t ‘Rigged’

Donald Trump has unleashed a battle cry and urged his supporters to be vigilant during election day. At a Friday campaign stop in Pennsylvania, he said “cheating” by Hillary Clinton is the only thing that will keep him from the presidency. To that end, he urged his supporters to be vigilant.

Trump has long said he believes this election is already “rigged” and that if he loses, it is because his opponents had it out for him. President Obama found this ridiculous and had a hard time keeping a straight face. Still, Trump pointed out it was “shocking” Pennsylvania doesn’t require a photo ID to vote and that voters should watch out for any funny stuff happening:

“I hope you people can sort of not just vote on the 8th — go around and look and watch other polling places and make sure that it’s 100 percent fine. The only way we can lose, in my opinion, I really mean this, Pennsylvania, is if cheating goes on. We’re going to watch Pennsylvania. Go down to certain areas and watch and study make sure other people don’t come in and vote five times.”

Trump’s comments come at a time when he is behind in a number of polls, especially in key battleground states like Pennsylvania. As reported by The Washington Post, Loyola University Law School professor Justin Levitt discovered there were only 31 incidents of voter impersonation out of more than a billion ballots that were cast in a 14-year span. So it seems highly unlikely there will be any cheating on election day. Trump has pointed to the DNC email hack as a reason for the election being rigged, but he has ridden those coattails for some time. Still, he continues to double down on this assertion and claims that if he loses, it won’t be his fault.
