Donald Trump Recommends Congress Declare War On ISIS After The Nice Attack

Trump called in to The O’Reilly Factor just hours after the attack in Nice Thursday night. As the tragedy unfolded, Trump told the host he believes that the U.S. should declare war on ISIS. Asked whether he agreed that “We are in a world war scenario,” Trump said, “I certainly do, and I’ve been saying it for a long time. It’s out of control.” Arguing that Obama “doesn’t want to call it what it is,” Trump cautioned that this problem would only grow worse unless severe measures are taken.

Trump went on to argue that mobilizing NATO would be “just fine” and mentioned that the U.S. supports NATO, so the country may as well use it. He called ISIS a “cancer” that’s spreading everywhere and must be eliminated at all costs. “Would you go to Congress and ask for a declaration of war?” O’Reilly asked. Trump replied, “I would. I would. This is war.” He went on:

“If you look at it, this is war coming all different parts. And frankly, it’s war and we’re dealing with people without uniforms. You know, in the old days you would have uniforms. You knew what you were fighting. These people — we are allowing people into our country who we have no idea where they are, where they’re from, who they are, they have no paperwork, they have no documentation in many cases and Hillary Clinton wants to allow a 550 percent more than even Obama and he is letting them in by the thousands. It’s out of control.”

As the Washington Post has noted, Congress hasn’t declared war since the U.S. entered World War II in 1941. Congress has, however, sanctioned the use of military force against Al-Qaeda, an authorization that was used to justify pursuit of terrorist threats in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.

Here’s the clip of Trump’s latest discussion with Bill O’Reilly.
