A Construction Worker Plants The Mexican Flag Atop Trump Tower In Vancouver

Throughout Donald Trump’s presidential run, he’s maintained one consistent viewpoint, which happens to be a strict immigration policy. From the very beginning, Trump made inflammatory remarks about Mexican immigrants. He aimed to build the Wall and found an audience that would support this position, and the Republican frontrunner never looked back. Nearly every primary victory speech has featured a promise that the structure would grow taller. Trump has continued — even in the face of John Oliver’s common sense — to insist that the Wall will happen. He won’t even rule out war with Mexico to make his vision come alive.

Well, Mexican-Canadian construction worker Diego Reyna is not impressed with Trump’s continued digs at the Mexican people. On Saturday, he ascended Vancouver’s Trump tower with a Mexican flag in hand and smiled for the camera. Reyna posted the evidence to his Facebook page with a caption that explained why he’s sending a shoutout to the building’s owner:

“MR Trump, we did our best work, your tower here in Vancouver is premium quality, and we were a crucial part of it, not just Mexicans but immigrants as a whole, like your ancestors were, you are not native american, the insults you have said about us, have not changed our work ethics, while working on your tower Mexicans didn’t steal anything nor raped anyone, we just did the best work we could possibly do, for ourselves, our families and the future tenants in your building.”

This is only half of Reyna’s caption, but he covers a lot of ground, and he’s sending a message to Trump that the internet delivered. Of course, the intended target hasn’t responded and is too busy campaigning in Wisconsin. Someone pulled the flag down on Sunday, but the sentiment came through, and surely, former Mexican President Vicente Fox will gain a chuckle upon hearing this news.

Reyna also spoke with CBC News to reinforce his views. He wants Trump to realize how he benefits from Mexican workers, and although Reyna did not work on this particular project, he proclaims, “I’ve seen every race and every religion working in that building.”
