Woo! Ric Flair Will Be At West Virginia’s Rough N’ Rowdy Brawl.

We’ve been big fans of West Virginia’s Rough N’ Rowdy Brawls ever since Brandon chronicled the first Bucky Boyd promo video. Now, the upcoming tournament, which will be in Charleston, West Virginia from January 9th – 10th (Please, if you can go there and report on the fights, I will love you forever) has a special guest: the 16-time world heavyweight champion, the Nature Boy, Ric Flair!

In addition to wrestling royalty, Rough N’ Rowdy royalty will also make an appearance as Bucky “The Bear-Man” Boyd is back in the competition, and he had some choice words for Josh Maynard.

Maynard’s clearly seen Bucky’s “fights” because he’s not taking a single thing seriously. Boyd’s aware of Flair’s upcoming presence, as he quotes Ric’s famous “to be the man, you have to beat the man” line. I’m not sure if the constant WOO!-ing is a reference to Flair or just drunken yokels behaving like drunken yokels. Either way, Boyd and Maynard aren’t the only men to call each other out.

For example, we have Buddy Tessling, who attempts to WOO! like Flair, but I’ve got to admit, it’s not that great of an impression. It sounds like generic yelling. You have brought great shame to Ric Flair, Buddy Tessling.

Next up is Toby Tacket and his hype men, who proclaim him the Dirtiest Player in the Game, and says that Toby is fighting for Flair. Unfortunately, his hype men only know part of the spiel, getting lost after “jet flyin”. I guess it’s the thought that counts.

My favorite promo might be from Terry Kidd and his Paul Heyman impersonator, JR Surface. Surface is great, from his weird Dusty Rhodes impression, to him telling Kidd’s barbaric, Viking-smelling opponents to forfeit, to his amazing attempt at sparring with Terry, which honestly looks like most Bucky Boyd fights. The only issue is that Terry Kidd is a pretty bad Brock Lesnar-analog, but I guess Cody Skeens didn’t need an advocate this time around.

The only other person to not scream and to sound fairly articulate is Chris Bowen. He’s not a fan of Buddy Tessling’s Flair impression, relegating Buddy down to Paul Roma status. He’s also upset that Kidd stole the Heyman idea and is threatening to challenge Terry at next year’s tournament.

And finally, if you’ve ever wanted to know how to properly make a hype video for the Rough N’ Rowdy Brawl, it’s a simple process. First, state the name of the county you are from, then yell WOO! as loud and long as you can. An optional step is stating that a county you are not from sucks, then have someone peel out of a parking lot.
