Tonight, on the first With Spandex WWE Raw open discussion thread of 2015:
It’s the first Raw of 2015, a night that should be full of celebration, fun and hope for the future. However, after John Cena was forced to bring The Authority back into power last week, WWE seems to be entering its darkest days yet. With Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt set to tear each other apart in an Ambulance Match, there’s already a sense of foreboding around this Monday night, but it’s also clear that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon will be looking for retaliation against all those who have wronged them in recent months. Our five-point preview:
1. Dean Ambrose takes on Bray Wyatt in an Ambulance Match, which is just like the other “throw each other into garbage” affairs they’ve had for the past month, only it ends with someone being tossed into a car and driven away slowly. In a couple of weeks they’ll have a match on Stonewall Jackson’s birthday and hit each other in the face with bricks.
2. The Authority’s back and Daniel Bryan will return at the Royal Rumble, meaning we’ve hit a big reset button on the past few months of WWE TV. Let’s get excited for Dolph Ziggler’s big breakthrough moment in November 2015!
3. The Ascension will compete, and if I’ve learned anything from how Raw gets booked over the past few years, they’ll wrestle Miz and Mizdow again. If not, here’s to hoping The New Day’s done with their therapy appointments and can show up in 2/3 formation to lose badly.
4. No word on how Roman Reigns will look tonight, but we’ll keep you updated. We’re sure it’s some sort of adjective.
5. Possible spoiler alert: Remember when Brock Lesnar showed up as a surprise and accosted Chris Jericho? He conveniently had a new shirt up on WWE Shop that afternoon. This afternoon, Randy Orton has a new shirt. Just saying.
