Lucha Underground Could Win An Emmy If There’s Still Good Left In This World

The Television Academy revealed the 2015 Emmy nomination ballots today, sending out a list of all the shows and people eligible for voting in each category. Nominations for each category are then voted on by the Academy, where they will in turn be announced as official nominees on July 16. But why do we care about a pointy statue coveted by the makers of Teen Mom OG, and what does it have do with wrestling? Because guys…GUYS… Lucha Underground could win that pointy statue.

El Rey’s soapy lucha libre show has been balloted under “Outstanding Structured Reality Program,” which is especially amazing when you consider it has traditionally unbelievable elements such zombies, an actual dragon, or non-offensive intergender wrestling. Here’s the full list of what voters will be pitting it against:

Outstanding Structured Reality Program

– Antiques Roadshow
– Bar Rescue
– Best Bars in America
– Catch a Contractor
– Cold Justice
– Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives
– Extreme Weight Loss
– Hotel Impossible
– Impractical Jokers
– Iyanla: Fix My Life
– Love It Or List It
– Love, Lust or Run
– Lucha Underground
– The Millionaire Matchmaker
– MythBusters
– No Limits
– The People’s Couch
– The Profit
– Property Brothers
– Repeat After Me
– Sex Box
– Shark Tank
– Storage Wars
– Tiny House Nation
– Undercover Boss
– Wake Up Call
– What Could Possibly Go Wrong
– Who Do You Think You Are?
– The Women Tell All
– World’s Funniest Fails

This is a huge list featuring some truly terrible shows, but now that Lucha Underground is lumped in with them, can you imagine the crossover possibilities? Undercover Boss starring Dario Cueto, featuring an incredible change of heart and ending with him giving Big Ryck a scholarship so he can finally go to nursing school? Mil Muertes and Catrina on Antiques Roadshow?? Pimpinella and Mascarita Sagrada on Love It or List It? Literally any of them on whatever the hell Sex Box is?! CERO MIEDO! UNO EMMY!
