Tyson Kidd Is Having Spinal Fusion Surgery And Will Likely Be Out Of Action For 14 Months

Earlier this month, Tyson Kidd suffered a neck injury in a Raw dark match with Samoa Joe. FACTS about the seriousness of the injury have been hard to come by, but there was hope he’d be able to avoid surgery. Unfortunately, that hope has been dashed.

Tyson recently tweeted confirmation he’ll be undergoing surgery

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Kidd’s operation will be similar to the spinal fusion surgery that Steve Austin, Edge, Lita and others have undergone. The good news is that wrestlers who go for spinal fusion surgery usually prolong their careers by at least a couple years. The bad news is that the surgery typically puts you on the shelf for around 14 months.

It’s a shame that Kidd is facing a forced hiatus just as he’d finally found his groove, but it’s good to see him putting his health first. Besides, between the stresses of cat parenthood, and being married to this foxy lady…

… I think Tyson will have his hands full over the next 14 months.
