Mississippi State’s Hype Video Proves That College Football Is Jericho

Chris Jericho is more of a hockey guy than a football guy. I know this because he says so every time he has to read DraftKings ad copy on his podcast, but that’s beside the point. That said, I feel like even the non-football fans among us can appreciate the value of a good hype video. So, when Mississippi State’s football team starts putting out Y2J-themed videos to get fans pumped for the 2015 NCAA football season, my ears perk up a little bit. Here it is, complete with MS-DOS code à la 2007 Jericho. Sadly, there’s no Jim Ross audio to be found.

Over on Twitter, Jericho has seen this video and he approves. In all honesty, I’m posting this somewhat begrudgingly. As a Texas A&M guy, it’s pretty difficult to come out and say that an SEC West rival is doing something awesome, but I’m not even going to pretend that this isn’t cool. That’s not to say that our hype people are slacking, though! We’ve been doing the Kanye West “Power” thing since Johnny Football was under center, but people are only now starting to notice it. If anything, I’m now hyped for the two teams squaring off on October 3, so I guess the video is doing its job. Dak Prescott can strike that Jericho pose all he wants, but Daylon Mack and Myles Garrett are the best tag team that doesn’t involve Xavier Woods as a trombone-playing hype man.

I think this was a post about professional wrestling at some point.
