The New Day Took A Shot At Poor Derrick Rose On WWE Raw

The New Day isn’t afraid to throw shade at your local sports team, so when WWE stopped in Chicago’s Allstate Arena for Monday’s episode of Raw, they made sure to insult popular stars Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton with a choice NBA reference. Check it out:

Here’s what you need to know, if you aren’t familiar with both sides:

Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose is a former Rookie of the Year, league MVP and three-time NBA All-Star. He’s also injured, a lot. The problems started in 2011, when sprained toes, back issues and a groin injury kept him out for almost half the year. A torn ACL in the final minutes of a first-round series against the 76ers put him out indefinitely, and he missed the entirety of 2012. He returned in 2013 with his own hashtag (#TheReturn), but suffered a torn right meniscus, had surgery and ended his season less than a month into it. His 2014-15 season saw him play in 51 games, but still miss 20 when he re-aggravated the knee. This season, Rose got hit with an elbow on the first day of training camp and suffered an orbital fracture.

WWE’s The New Day are Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E. They were originally supposed to be fan favorites based on their happy, gospel music-based clapping, smiling and positivity, but it didn’t connect with fans because that’s a horrible idea. They became bad guys and almost immediately became fan favorites — funny how that works — and currently hold the WWE Tag Team Championships thanks to a combination of skill, cheating and sarcastic trombone playing.
