Stone Cold Steve Austin Says He Loves You, But Doesn’t Need To Wrestle Anymore

As we get closer to the end of the year, the important WWE question becomes, “Is my favorite legend coming back to wrestle at WrestleMania?”

Everyone you loved 20 years ago gets that question. The Rock looks like he’s out. Hulk Hogan was ready to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal before a racist scandal got him fired, but he says he’s still training. Stone Cold Steve Austin gets it every year, and many thought him interviewing Brock Lesnar would be the first moment in a WrestleMania program between the two. (It wasn’t.)

On the latest edition of The Steve Austin Show, Austin addressed the yearly rumor and laid in his position as honestly and directly as possible: He appreciates your enthusiasm, but he’s not getting back in the ring just to get in the ring.

“I’m not willing to do anything that my heart’s not set on… I love my fans, I love the WWE fans, I love wrestling fans, I love wrestling… I just don’t need to wrestle anymore.”

And that’s how it should be, shouldn’t it? If people just want to see Steve Austin, they can see him walk to the ring, drink a few beers and bail. They don’t need to see him getting German suplexed to create a response. And if he is getting suplexed, shouldn’t his heart be in it?

If you’re reading this in November of 2016 and clicked over because I linked it in my, “Will Stone Cold Steve Austin Wrestle At WrestleMania 33?” post, I hope you’ve had a nice year.
