CM Punk’s upcoming Fox Sports documentary officially has an air date, and it’s much more solid than his UFC debut. Filmmaker Rory Karpf, who you may know from his ESPN 30 for 30 docs on Christian Laettner and the upcoming special on WWE Legend Ric Flair, revealed the premiere date of ‘Evolution of Punk.’ Karpf has also been giving fans a behind the scenes look via his Twitter account over the past month:

I think we can all admit that the last one is the best one, if only because it’s fun to imagine a shot-for-shot remake of his wife AJ’s romantic WWE vignettes with Superstar Dolph Ziggler.

The documentary follows CM Punk’s transformation from world-famous pro wrestler to much-hyped (and much-maligned) UFC fighter. Punk has been sidelined from making his UFC debut multiple times, but is finally scheduled to face off against jiu jitsu specialist Mickey Gall on September 10 at UFC 203.

While CM Punk has had strong words for other UFC fighters, many have soured on the self-proclaimed Best in the World after constant delays in his debut, as well as his consistent and harsh disdain for his pro wrestling roots. It will be interesting to see if this look at his life prepping for the octagon will win any of those fans back ahead of his big fight. Personally, I’m just happy to see more of his wife. Miss you forever, AJ.
