Dana White Is Using A Reality Show To Scout CM Punk’s First UFC Opponent

A lot of fighters have offered to step up and face former WWE Champion Phil “CM Punk” Brooks in his first UFC fight. Chris Leben wants to come out of retirement to do it. Jason David Frank, also known as the Green Ranger from Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, has been angling for a fight for years. We don’t know exactly when a fight will take place, but there’s a line forming.

That’s why it was surprising to hear UFC President Dana White speaking to TSN on Thursday and revealing that he’ll be using an in-development reality series to scout potential opponents for Punk’s UFC debut.

“I just started a new show, the pilot is on YouTube, it’s called ‘Dana White Looking for a Fight’ and I’m actually out looking for opponents for CM Punk right now. He will fight next year, 100 percent.”

To rearrange it in pro wrestling terms, imagine if Stephen Amell had announced he wanted to be a wrestler, and WWE went to Tough Enough to find him an opponent.

It takes a winning record and a minimum of three pro fights to make it on The Ultimate Fighter, UFC’s already-existing reality show. With Punk having no pro experience and not qualifying for TUF, this seems like a pretty straight forward way to find a 0-0 opponent. As White mentioned, the show is currently on YouTube if you want to check it out:
