Daniel Bryan Shared His Favorite Moment From His Career And His Memories Of Dusty Rhodes

What would you peg as Daniel Bryan’s favorite moment of his illustrious career? Beating Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton to win the title at WrestleMania 30? Perhaps something from his feuds with Chris Hero and Nigel McGuinness in Ring of Honor? Nope.

Turns out his favorite moment was a now largely forgotten talking segment from the December 9th, 2013 episode of Raw. John Cena and Randy Orton were having a “Championship Ascension Ceremony” for their upcoming, thrown-together title unification match. WWE made the mistake of putting the entire roster in the ring to witness the ceremony, including hometown boy Daniel Bryan, who inadvertently totally upstaged two “faces of the company”

“It was just supposed to be an interview between Triple-H, Randy Orton and John Cena, but the fans there weren’t having it. They just started chanting ‘Yes!’ and ‘Yes!’ and ‘Yes!’ and ‘Daniel Bryan!’ to the point that they were ruining the segment. John Cena is so smart and so quick on his feet, he pulls me forward and asks me something to the effect of ‘What’s your name?’ I said, ‘Daniel Bryan,’ and everybody cheers.”

Now that I remember it, it was a pretty cool moment. Ultimately though, Bryan remembers the segment fondly for more personal reasons.

“It’s mostly special because that was the last time my dad got to see me wrestle before he passed away. And not only that, but he got mentioned. If you were to ask me my favorite moment in wrestling, that’d be it.”

In the same interview, Bryan also talked briefly about the recently departed Dusty Rhodes

“He was always looking at the positives. He wasn’t afraid to tell you what was wrong with something, but he was also quick to highlight the very good aspects of your nature or things about you that you should focus on. He touched a lot — a lot — of people. I have fond memories of Dusty, but I also have fond memories of being in the car with Cody while he was talking to his dad. You could hear the way they would banter back and forth and you can see how that vibrancy that Dusty had was passed on to Cody.”

Well, we now know Daniel Bryan’s personal favorite moment of his career. What about you folks? What’s your favorite Daniel Bryan moment? Any answer is valid (unless it’s something from Total Divas).
