WWE’s Finn Bálor Received A Stem Cell Transplant For His Shoulder Injury

It’s been a weird few months for Finn Bálor. In July, the former NXT Champion was sent to Raw in the very first round of WWE’s brand extension draft. Then, he pinned both Rusev and Roman Reigns in two separate matches on the same night to earn a spot against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, with the victor to be crowned the first-ever WWE Universal Champion. Then in August, Bálor pinned Rollins to capture the Universal Championship — and the very next night, he was forced to surrender the title due to a serious shoulder injury sustained in the match.

Early reports said that Bálor’s shoulder surgery was a success, but he doesn’t appear to be completely out of the woods yet. Recently, the WWE Superstar ended up back on an operating table in Birmingham, Alabama, to undergo a stem cell transplant, pulling bone marrow from his pelvis to inject into his shoulder in hopes of helping repair some of the cartilage in his labrum. You can see a video of the procedure below.

Bálor took to Instagram to announce that the procedure was a success, which presumably means he will be turning into a Shakey’s Pizza any minute now. Just last week, Bálor said he has about five months of rehab to go, so presuming this procedure didn’t tack on any extra time, we will hopefully see the Demon King back in the squared circle by WrestleMania 33.
