Hang On, Is That WWE’s Sheamus In The New ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Movie?

OK, remember a while back when Sheamus let his nerd flag fly during an interview with the Mirror and revealed his dreams of joining the Marvel universe as Venom? Well, we didn’t get that, which is kind of a shame, knowing what we do about the plans for Captain America: Civil War. We’re still unfortunately stuck with the gross memories of Topher Grace as one of Spider-Man’s most iconic villains, but it looks like Sheamus is getting a bit of a consolation prize. First of all, consider this tweet he posted yesterday.

Harmless enough by itself, right? Just a fun night on the town. But hang on a second… Gary Anthony Williams and Brian Tee are confirmed as villains in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, playing Bebop and Shredder, respectively. Is there any photographic evidence that can put an end to our rampant speculation?

Yes. Yes there is.

OK, this is no longer a drill. Sheamus is playing Rocksteady in the new TMNT movie, and… I kind of dig the casting? Not enough to actually convince me to pay money to go and see it when it hits theaters, but you get the general idea. In any case, I have questions.

  1. Is he going to keep the Irish accent?
  2. Why does the idea of a giant, mutant rhinoceros with an Irish accent suddenly sound so cool?
  3. Wasn’t Shredder a white guy in the last movie, or did I miss something? I didn’t see that movie, either.
  4. Did you know that Uncle Phil was Shredder in the original animated series? True story!
  5. How do we get Hornswoggle as Krang in the next sequel?
  6. Hang on a second, WWE has Rhyno under contract at NXT. How do you not cast Rhyno to play the giant rhino?
