Let’s All Revisit This Embarrassing Star Wars WWE Promo From John Cena

No matter where you look, everything right now revolves around Star Wars. I can’t lie — I’m totally fine with it. What, like I’m gonna sit here and pretend I didn’t get emotional over a handful of droids and also Chewbacca and also a lot of things okay I enjoyed it shut up.

Now seems like the appropriate time to go back to a promo from long ago, but probably not very far away. Back in 2012, John Cena was trying to really stick it to evil authority figure John Laurinaitis. Cena tries to give everyone the Cliff’s Notes version of what’s happened so far, but instead of admitting that he’s a man-sized toddler tormenting a dude just trying to do his job (#TeamJohnny4Lyfe), he chooses instead to throw out a bunch of Star Wars comparisons that, well… Let’s just say they hit the mark as accurately as bunch of original trilogy Storm Troopers. I mean, he likens Actual Evil Billionaire Vince McMahon to Yoda. I don’t think there’s enough space on this website to demonstrate everything wrong with that.

Part of me wants to fantasy-cast members of the WWE roster as Star Wars characters, but also all of me wants to gaze lovingly at GIFs of Poe Dameron and wonder how Oscar Isaac gets his hair to do that thing it does instead. You know the one I’m talking about. Feel free to have a cast party in the comment section below.
