TNA’s Rockstar Spud Is The Newest Ambassador For An Amazing UK Charity

If you know anything about me from my days in the Impact Best and Worst trenches, it’s that there are few things in TNA (or in general, let’s be honest here) that makes me as happy as Rockstar Spud. Spud’s come a long way in pretty much every facet of his career since he first joined the Impact Wrestling roster, and now he’s putting his notoriety to good use.

The Starlight Foundation is a British charity that grants wishes for both seriously and terminally ill children in the UK. It’s kinda like the Make A Wish Foundation, but with more British people and proper English spellings. Spud joins celebrities like Keira Knightley, Matt Smith, and Rupert Grint as a Starlight Ambassador, and he couldn’t be more excited:

When Starlight approached me to become an Ambassador for their charity it dawned on me that this is the first time a professional wrestler born in the United Kingdom has been given such an amazing opportunity to work with a charity like Starlight, who grant wishes for terminally ill children across the UK. The best gift this industry has given me is the ability to put smiles on people’s faces. Professional wrestling gives children a window to forget all of life’s problems, live vicariously through their heroes on the screen and express their emotions.

Spud really is just a great human being all the way around, and seeing him so excited to help people – even before the official announcement – warms my little heart through and through. They say you should never meet your heroes, but Spud manages to prove that adage wrong time and again. Good on ya, bud.
