Ryback Revealed That He Turned Down A $1.5 Million Contract From WWE

Former WWE Superstar Ryback released the debut episode of his podcast Conversation With The Big Guy, and boy was it a doozy.

The first episode — titled “Introducing Ryan Reeves” — gave fans and new listeners a more in-depth look into his reasons behind parting ways with the company. Reeves has always been open and honest about his issues, most notably when he released a lengthy statement via his Tumblr about his workplace frustrations.

During the podcast, Reeves revealed that despite obvious tensions, the effort to keep him around was still being made:

Not about a money issue, just so everybody knows, I walked away from the WWE, the contract offer that I walked away from was a three-year $1.5 million contract.

He then went on to describe how he would be misled about bookings and storyline plans, including a proposal from Vince McMahon to “squash that little twerp” AJ Styles at WrestleMania 32. That uhh … that clearly wasn’t a real thing. He also claimed that WWE would block him from taking promotional opportunities such as magazine cover appearances, while other Superstars would be allowed to.

Reeves explains that despite this (and more), he doesn’t feel like his frankness is burning a bridge because he’s just telling the truth. Though his departure came under less than ideal circumstances, he says he’ll always be thankful for his time there.

Same, buddy. Same.
