In case you’ve been lost in thought on a beach somewhere, the heavy snowstorms in the northeast caused a travel ban that compromised to a permanent end last night’s episode of WWE Raw. Instead of doing a live show, they were forced to shoot from WWE Headquarters in Stamford and replay the marquee matches from Sunday’s Royal Rumble. The rest was in-studio interviews, Dean Ambrose wandering through a blizzard and JBL giving sad weather updates.
If you missed it, the only thing you need to see is the face-to-face confrontation between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, moderated by Paul Heyman. It’s not a “fix” for the Royal Rumble, but in about seven minutes Paul Heyman manages enough damage control to make Reigns vs. Lesnar look like the best and only WrestleMania feud. It’s magic. He talks about knowing Reigns’ family his entire life and makes Roman seem like a destined badass walking into the biggest moment of his career. It’s a nice change of pace from “confused guy telling fairy tales.” Brock Lesnar is Brock Lesnar, and nobody says that better than Heyman.
This is how you build pro wrestling. Check it out.
