WWE Cruiserweight Classic Results 9/14/16

Here are your quick and dirty, editorial-free WWE Cruiserweight Classic results for September 14, 2016. Tonight’s show featured an exhibition tag team match, plus the final matches of this 10-week tournament, crowning WWE’s inaugural CWC champion.

1. Semifinal Match: Gran Metalik defeated Zack Sabre, Jr. Metalik caught a charging Sabre and dropped him into the Metalik Driver for the win, earning him the first spot in the finals.

2. Semifinal Match: T.J. Perkins defeated Kota Ibushi. After working on Ibushi’s knee throughout the match, a kneebar/crossface combination finally got the Golden Star to tap out.

3. Non-Tournament Tag Team Match: Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa defeated Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar. The newly-minted Team D.I.Y. picked up the victory after hitting Dar with their superkick/running knee combination.

4. WWE Cruiserweight Classic Final: T.J. Perkins defeated Gran Metalik. After Triple H declared that the winner would go to Raw as WWE’s new Cruiserweight Champion, Perkins countered a second-rope Metalik Driver attempt into a kneebar, forcing Gran Metalik to submit. The 32-year-old Perkins is the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion, and the first to hold the title since its retirement in 2008.
