It was almost a foregone conclusion that Brock Lesnar would dismantle Seth Rollins to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Battleground. However, The Architect changed many a mind last week on Raw, when he mended fences with his Authority allies and brutalized The Beast Incarnate.
Now that they have successfully transformed the unstoppable Anomaly into an underdog, The Authority’s two heavy hitters, Rollins & Kane, will put their combined skills to the test against Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns in the main event of Raw. What else does the future hold for this Monday’s show? (Via WWE.com)
Our five-point preview:
1. Every time I read “WWE Battleground,” I think it’s already happened and they’ve made a typo, but nope, that was Payback. And Elimination Chamber. And Unstoppable and Money in the Bank. I wish WWE live events hadn’t started feeling so much like those branded episodes of Impact.
2. Yes, the announced Dean Ambrose/Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins/Kane main event is the same tag-team match that’s main-evented basically every Raw and SmackDown since March. That’s an exaggeration, but man, I already feel like I’m watching that match through a kaleidoscope.
3. The Rusev/Summer Rae Lowered Expectations romance continues. I hope Summer starts speaking in a bad Russian accent and nobody acknowledges it.
4. Bray Wyatt will continue his mind games against Roman Reigns by holding up a photo of Roman’s daughter and saying YOUR DAUGHTER’S DEAD, and Roman will freak out and run away without like, checking to make sure she’s OK or calling someone or asking someone to watch her and keep her away from swamp cultists while he’s at work.
5. With Tyson Kidd and Erick Rowan out with injuries, is tonight the night we get our Cesaro/Luke Harper super team? Warning — I’m fantasy-booking this every week until it happens.
