WWE Raw Open Discussion Thread 12/21/15: Oh God, It’s The Slammy Awards

If you’re wondering why I’m in the fetal position in the corner of a bomb shelter today, it’s time for the Slammy Awards. Via WWE.com:

In the most interactive Slammy Awards in history, the WWE Universe can choose the year’s most indelible Superstars, matches and moments on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram — with voting continuing through the weekend — and also live during Raw, exclusively on the WWE App.

Social media voting concludes at 6 p.m. Monday, with winners revealed on WWE.com and the 2015 WWE Slammys Pre-Show, airing live on WWE.com, the WWE App, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, Pheed and Google+. Then, you’ll be able to vote on eight additional categories live during Raw, exclusively on the WWE App:

– Match of the Year
– Diva of the Year
– Breakout Star of the Year
– LOL! Moment of the Year
– Extreme Moment of the Year
– “This is Awesome!” Moment of the Year
– The OMG Shocking Moment of the Year
-The Hero in All of Us Award, presented by Coca-Cola

What else is in store on what’s sure to be a historic night? WWE.com has some ideas.

Instead of a five-point preview, here’s my ballot for the categories presented in the preview, not taking into consideration who or what is actually nominated or could win.

Match of the Year: The highest ranking match on my top 10 of the year was Lesnar vs. Cena vs. Rollins at Royal Rumble, so I’ll go with that. Plus, that match winning gives any of those three guys an excuse to be on the show. I’m also okay if Heyman accepts.

Diva of the Year: Sasha Banks. What’re you, new?

Breakout Star of the Year: The New Day, easily. Those guys went from frustrating eye-rolls to the best part of the show in record time, and in a perfect world they win three Slammys so they can each hold one on their way to the ring. Forever.

LOL! Moment of the Year: R-Truth thinking he’s in the Money in the Bank ladder match. Bonus points if Truth shows up to accept someone else’s award earlier in the show, then bails and misses the chance to accept his own.

Extreme Moment of the Year, “This is Awesome!” Moment of the Year and The OMG Shocking Moment of the Year: Kalisto’s Salida del Sol from the top of a ladder at TLC should win all three of these, because they’re more or less interchangeable.

The Hero in All of Us Award, presented by Coca-Cola: You’d think John Cena, but nope, Roman Reigns. I want him accepting with tears in his eyes, cutting a horrible promo that recaps his entire year while drinking an entire 3-liter bottle of Coke.

As always, we’re including 10 of our favorite comments from tonight’s open discussion thread in tomorrow’s Best and Worst of Raw column, so reply to your favorites with a +1 to nominate them for consideration. Also, let us know who you think should win these Slammy Awards. It’s totally acceptable if you just say “Owen Hart” and leave it at that.

Enjoy the wrestling parts of the show, if there are any!
