Ever since Kevin Owens has been signed by WWE, his longtime fans have been clamoring for him to reach main event status. He’s nearly there and no one can argue he isn’t one of the top three or four heels in the entire company right now. Every opportunity Owens has been given, he has run with. He sells merchandise, is “over” (whatever that even means anymore) and is probably the most popular cosplay option among WWE event attendees.
Owens’ mentors and peers are both taking notice. No less an authority than “Stone Cold” Steve Austin has weighed in and given Owens a huge vote of confidence. Austin gave an interview to Sports Illustrated‘s Extra Mustard on Monday and said he believes Owens needs to have a run with WWE’s top prize.
“I think they’ve got to give Kevin Owens a run with the belt,” said Austin. “He’s a veteran and he’s really clicking on the mic, and the kid is super talented. Give him a f—— run. I don’t know why you wouldn’t give the guy the opportunity, he’s just too good.”
