WWE Survivor Series Is Listed As Site For A Potential Terrorist Attack

Per the International Business Times, a report from Anonymous claiming to have information about planned, coordinated terrorist attacks from the militant group ISIS set for Sunday includes WWE’s Survivor Series pay-per-view in Atlanta as a possible target.

OpParisIntel, a group within Anonymous, released a statement saying it had collected information about imminent attacks by the militant group — aka Daesh, ISIL and ISIS — in the French capital a little more than a week after a series of coordinated attacks there left 130 dead and hundreds injured.

Anonymous also said the Islamic State group is planning an assault at the WWE Survivor Series event scheduled to take place in the Philips Arena in Atlanta Sunday at 7.30 p.m. EST, as well as attacks at multiple events in Paris.

According to Atlanta WSB-TV reporter Mark Winne (with a h/t to Cageside Seats for alerting us to the tweets), the Atlanta Police Department and the FBI are taking the threat seriously, but there appears to be no active plan for attack. Survivor Series is a “suggested target” for a “lone wolf” bomber. No, this is not the time for Baron Corbin jokes:

Georgia Emergency Management Agency director Jim Butterworth also issued a statement via WSB-TV to let people know that the threat’s being taken seriously.

“His agency is working closely with the FBI, the Georgia information sharing and analysis center and others in evaluating the threat on a Sunday WWE event in Atlanta reported by the group Anonymous.”

We’ll keep you up to date on the story, which we hope begins and ends with “someone said Survivor Series was a possible site for a terrorist attack, but nothing happened.”
