Cam’ron’s Favorite Verse In The History Of Rap Comes From A Once Familiar Foe

Cam’ron was serious about this whole “no longer beefing with Jay Z” thing. Not to say it ever had the appearance of being some sort of hustle because Cam is always a man of his word. But it’s fair to say none of us expected to hear the man say that one of his favorite verses–besides his own–is one Jay Z spit on “In My Lifetime.” Yeah, look at Cam being all mature.

“He said, ‘I don’t hassle with capsules, cause that’ll make the grass grow and get a project nigga paid up the asshole. If I’mma risk a frisk, gettin’ my wrists wrapped up in steel, I’m out here trying to make a mill’, my shit is real for real,” a gleeful Cam rapped for the ThisIs50 camera.

“I like that because, why push nickels and dimes?,” Cam asks. “If you’re going to take a risk doing something, go for it.”

Cam admired Jay’s go-for-broke attitude and it’s safe to say he saw himself in that line and may have even seen himself in the man he once clowned for wearing sandals. It also sheds light on why he felt disappointment at Hov’s “Oh Boy (Remix)” verse. But hey, why talk about their beef-infested past when we can revel in their…vegetarian-filled future?

The fact that in every verse he’s ever heard–once again including his own–a Jay verse from ’95 is the one that sticks out to him after all these years.

For your listening pleasure, here’s the verse that Cam gets so excited to talk about. It’s not the “In My Lifetime (Remix)” but it’ll do.
