Dizzy Wright’s ‘They Know Why’ Video Takes On Racism And Police Brutality

Dizzy Wright continues the trend of protest music with his new video for “They Know Why.” Artists like Miguel, Jay-Z, Mistah F.A.B. and more have written songs calling out the tactics law enforcement use in black communities.

For “They Know Why,” Wright goes the visual route, interspersing various police shootings with the faces of crying parents. For anybody with even a remote sense of humanity, the video is a painful watch. The stark reality of being black in America is laid out and it isn’t pretty. Perhaps even more painful than that it admission is the cold reality it won’t be the last time it happens. Dizzy wrote a statement with the release of the video.

“All I’m saying is our anger comes from a different place and I pray the world can understand that this country has always worked against us so responding with violence seems like the only way but it’s not and it’s up to the positive people in the world to spread that love.”

Dizzy Wright’s most recent project, 702 EP, was released in June of this year. It’s available on iTunes, on his site, and currently streaming on SoundCloud.
