good move french! don’t wanna see you mysteriously disappear like the other bad boy artist, you’ve been grinding for way to long for that to happen.
Publishing is how artist get payed every time their songs are played. Sometimes its split 50 50 between the label and the artist. Or the Label will buy your publishing from you. EXAMPLE
Diddy buys publishing from an artist and gives them 3million for it he now gets paid for every time that song gets played on tv on radio or anywhere in the world. BMI and ASCAP keep track of that.
Sometimes your publishing is worth shit because you get the 3million and your album sucks.

He did well to keep his publishing but at the end of the day its still diddy. And as a business man diddy is shady as hell.
considering he already has a song in a Nike commercial, he was smart to keep his publishing. no matter how bad your album does getting cheques for the rest of your life is better then a quick 3 million. that you might spend a little more recklessly since it comes at the beginning of your career.
