K. Forest Capitalizes on Travi$ Scott’s ‘Birds’ Buzz With ‘Link’

Brampton, Ontario singer K. Forest recently watched his song explode as part of Travi$ Scott’s no. 1 album Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight. The 22-year-old released “Guidance” way back in June, and eventually Travis approached him about the track. Now, it lives there and belongs solely to Scott, as Forest confirmed to Noisey it will not be on his forthcoming EP Eyes Of Tiaga.

Now, Forest is looking to capitalize on the Birds buzz and all the acclaim for “Guidance” with the release of a new track “Link.” Produced by “Guidance” producer dFraser, with co-production credits to Forest himself, the instrumental provides a lush backdrop for Forest’s accented crooning.

It’s a slight divergence from the sound some may have expected from the Canadian after getting their introduction to him on Birds, but it’s a strong showing for the upstart nonetheless.

“The song was inspired by the late nights in Brampton a long side my female friend who’s aprt of our clique,” he told HotNewHipHop. What Forest hopes to do is now branch off into his own career, separate from La Flame and Birds, but also accentuated by it. It’s probably no accident that “Link” has a much more brooding sound, compared to the colorful, AfroSoca-rooted “Guidance.”
