Kamaiyah’s ‘F*ck It Up’ Video With YG Is East Oakland To The Fullest

In the mid-2000s, the Bay Area became known nationally as the region of the sideshow. Gold teeth, dreadlocks, muscle cars swinging through intersections and loud, slapping, energetic music rattling through gigantic speakers in trunks everywhere became the identity of Oakland, San Francisco, Vallejo and every other city in the Bay. Hailing from East Oakland’s infamous High Street, 21-year-old Kamaiyah is clearly a child of the sideshow era and it has never been more apparent than it is in her joyous video for her track “F*ck It Up” featuring YG.

While their previous collaboration “ Why You Always Hatin’?” with Drake may have had a Bay infused video of its own, that was shot in LA, and tame by sideshow standards. Here, in her hometown Kamaiyah is able to let her hair down, literally and figuratively, shake them dreads, swing a few muscle cars and let loose. YG joins in on the fun as well, hanging out of a car as they ride around East Oakland looking like he’s having the time of his life.

As the video shifts to nighttime, and a prime location in the city, the duo stands bravely as a Camaro spins donuts around them with precision. It’s all so very Bay Area, and East Oakland specifically, all the way down to the Oakland Raiders gear and Yaya rocks throughout. Kamaiyah and YG are busy criss-crossing the country on his FDT tour, and they’re set to hit her hometown in November, but in the meantime check out her mixtape A Good Night In The Ghetto below.
