Well, now that latest Kanye West rant about Tidal and Apple makes a little bit more sense, because ‘Ye just might have confirmed a Drake and Kanye joint album at the second day of OVO Fest in Toronto on Monday night.
For the second night in a row, Yeezy was a guest during Drake’s set at the festival, and this time he teased the crowd, saying, “Is y’all ready for this album?” Before there could be any confusion about what album he was talking about, Kanye clarified, “I wasn’t talking about (The Life of) Pablo, I wasn’t talking about Views.” Then he pointed to foe turned BFF Drake and waved him onto the stage, saying, “I want to ask y’all right now, are y’all ready for this album?”
After plenty of allusion and coded talk in interviews, it’s the clearest sign that there is an actual Drake and Kanye collaboration album or mixtape in the works, possibly even finished. It’s just one of many projects on both artists’ plates, with Drake supposedly working on a solo mixtape and a project with Gucci Mane, while Kanye is said to be working on Cruel Winter, the next G.O.O.D Music compilation, as well as his next solo album Turbo Grafx 16 all while he’s still updating Pablo at random.
Now, the question is, do we even want or need a Drake and Kanye West collaborative album?
