Never mind figuring out if Gucci Mane is really the Gucci Mane we all know and love or if he’s just a clone created and sent by the government for who the hell even knows. What we really need to be focusing on is whether or not Kanye West was really involved in a horrific car crash in 2002 like he rapped about on “Through the Wire.”
Apparently, there are some “Through the Wire” truthers on social media with the belief that Kanye was never in that devastating wreck in October 2002, and that the whole thing was a cover-up orchestrated by the powers that be. Sounds pretty ridiculous because we’ve all seen the horrific pictures of Kanye looking like “Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky” following his accident, but there’s a reason for that. According to rap folklore, Kanye’s injuries were sustained when he was confronted by a local rapper over some instrumentals.
Going back to a 2010 article by Andrew Barber of Fake Shore Drive, before Kanye landed beats on Jay Z’s The Blueprint that launched him into superstardom, Kanye was just a struggling producer crafting records for local Chicago rappers, including a “street-oriented dude” named Payroll.
