Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. has now been available to the non-LeBron public for over a week, and K. Dot’s fans are slowly unfurling the dense layers he’s packed into the 14-track LP. It’s really half the fun in a Kendrick album. One fan might have just uncovered a clue that solves one of the biggest mysteries of the album: Who is the blind woman that seemingly kills Kendrick at the beginning/end of DAMN.?
Most guesses seem to point at either Lucy — Kendrick’s Lucifer metaphor from To Pimp A Butterfly — or a blind, mumbling and lost hip-hop. A Twitter user named Uriah Walters went back to TPAB for some sort of confirmation of the theory and just might have found it right on the disc of the album. It is there that the album title is listed in braille, lending credence to the idea that Lucy is indeed blind, thus she is the lost woman who shoots Kendrick on “BLOOD.”
The Butterfly booklet also includes the braille passage that roughly translates to “A Blank Letter by Kendrick Lamar,” according to Complex.
Leave it to the fans Kendrick, otherwise known as KenFolk, to mine this nugget, but there does seem to be some truth to the theory here. At least until another fan finds evidence to the contrary and opens up another Pandora’s Box for us to enjoy.
