Kodak Black’s closed at least one chapter in the legal drama currently surrounding him. The 19-year-old rising rap star accepted a plea deal in which he’ll serve 120 days on two misdemeanor drug charges, per a report from the Sun Sentinel.
Kodak, Dieuson Octave, was pulled over in a traffic stop back in December 2015 and was hit with misdemeanor charges for possession of 20 grams or less of cannabis, and a misdemeanor charge of use or possession of drug paraphernalia. He reportedly missed his court date and, since he was already in jail in Broward County for another case, authorities in in St. Lucie County had him transferred over to see the judge there.
The Atlantic Records signee plead no contest to the drug charges in exchange for a 120-day sentence. Since he’s already in jail, it’s likely he’ll get credit for time served and be a free man again as early as November 30. However, he won’t be able to drive because part of his sentence also included him losing his license for a year as well as incurring a $298 fine, according to the report.
“At the end of the day, for St. Lucie County, I think he did well,” said his attorney, James Regan.
Neither Kodak nor Regan can rest just yet. The Florida native still has another case looming in South Carolina where he was charged with criminal sexual conduct. The S.C. cases stems for allegations of sexual battery at an area hotel after a performance by the rapper and the crime carries a potential 30 year sentence. At this time, it’s uncertain if he’ll be transferred there after his time in St. Lucie is up.
