Lil Yachty’s Narration Of The Intro To Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’ Is Almost As Good As The Song

It’s been less than a month since we first got word that Kendrick Lamar was about to drop a new album, but it feels more like forever. Maybe it had something to do with expecting it to drop on April 7 and then being forced to wait an entire new week for it to get here? Anyway, fans of the Compton rapper were more than overjoyed this evening when DAMN. finally made its way out into the public space, none more than Atlanta’s own Lil Yachty it would seem.

Just minutes after the album went officially live, Lil Boat took to Twitter and filmed himself listening to it for the first time. Rather than confine his wonder and amazement to an internal monologue, he was gracious enough to loudly marvel at the scene that Kendrick slowly built on the opening track “BLOOD.” When K Dot says he was “taking a walk the other day,” Yachty asks, “Where you going? Where you going Kendrick?” When he says he saw a blind woman walking down the sidewalk that looked frustrated, Lil Boat asked for us, “What happened Kendrick? What’s wrong with her?” And so on.

The whole thing is vastly entertaining, and I personally wouldn’t mind if someone spliced up the audio and made an “enhanced version” with Yachty’s commentary. Check it out for yourself in the video above.
