For anyone snoozing on The Hamilton Mixtape, please let “Wrote My Way Out” be the alarm clock that awakens you from your slumber. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s monster of a mixtape is packed with a ton of big name features, which can be a recipe for success or letdowns if everyone can’t live up the expectations. But, failure doesn’t seem likely after listening to Miranda spit with the likes of Nas and Dave East on the newly released track.

Each MC takes his turn chronicling his rise from the hard knocks to new, unimaginable heights with Aloe Blacc uplifting hook inspiring a let’s-take-it-to-church moment. There’s no real competition in terms of who has the most exciting verse because each one is the personal narrative of the artist sharing them. Nas takes listeners back to the familiar corners where he sat and plotted on his come-up, while his fast-rising protege Dave East spins on how learning to rhyme saved him from the streets, creating a life where there’s no more “Bumble Bee Tuna, now we could get steak.” Miranda comes in to close the deal by recalling his own path success with clever rhymes, managing to squeeze in a reference to bullying incidents in his past.

And if that wasn’t enough to whet your appetite for the project, there’s a second record just released titled “Wait for It” by Usher. The song shares a lot of similarities to his Hard II Earn material while possessing a beauty all of its own with Usher’s soothing vocal runs making this one a radio-friendly hit. You can stream The Hamilton Mixtape below, and so far, it sounds like it’s worth the wait.
