Mac Miller’s ‘The Divine Feminine’ Is A Beautiful Take On The Journey Of Love

At this point, it’s hard to deny Mac Miller as an artist. Name a year he hasn’t released a solid, new project. You can’t. Since Blue Slide Park, Mac has continued to improve himself as an MC and can now be considered one of the best we have in hip-hop. He loves to push himself to create something we never heard before, and The Divine Feminine is another shining example of that.

Billed at 10 tracks, The Divine Feminine started out as an EP before Miller realized he had more to say about the topic of love. So, it quickly expanded into an album, one that boasts incredible features from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Cee-Lo Green (“We”), Ty Dolla $ign, Anderson .Paak (“Dang!”) and even new boo Ariana Grande. But these guests are not normal. They’re brought into Mac’s vision, and made to enhance what he wants to get across.

While this album is centered around love, it doesn’t necessarily start out that way. “Congratulations” is a reflection pertaining to his previous relationship that didn’t work out. Even “Dang!” has shades of dealing with the heart broken feeling, but from there his spirits are lifted. The Divine Feminine is a beautiful concept album that will take a while to fully decipher and appreciate. If nothing else, you’ll love this album.
