What are your thoughts on MJ vs Kobe comparisons?
I don’t mind these 2 being compared to each other, I think it’s a valid argument. but MJ played with less dominant help during his championship runs.
somebody tell me that Luc Longley, Bill Cartwright were the best centers in the game at the time. During those years, Tony Kukoc, John Paxson, Steve Kerr were not the best at their positions, hell even Scottie Pippen was not the best player at his position during those years… pull the numbers for Jordan’s teammates compared to the ridiculous amount of HOFers he played against during those years.
now go look at all the HOFers that Kobe has played with throughout his career, when he one with Shaq, Shaq was the best center in the game hands down… when he one with Bynum, Bynum was a top 3 center in the game hands down. we won’t even get into Derrick Fisher being a great role player and arguably one of the best role players in history Robert Horry being there on Kobe’s team… we can go on and on about the advantages Kobe had around him that Mike didn’t and how Kobe didn’t make those guys better but MJ made everybody better.
They are both great players and living legends, but aint nobody fuckin with MJ… not even this LeBron guy everyone is talking about nowadays haha
lol… Lebron is deffinitly fucking with MJ status. If you dont see that your blind. Lebron is ten times the athlete Kobe and MJ were and are. Better overall player than both of them.
But the argument is this comparison ok Kobe and MJ which i think is silly. Kobe has been trying to be like Mike his whole career and even went to the extent of changing his number to “24” to try to one up MJ. MJ is greater than Kobe is and ever will be.
Lebron is on the path to being the best basketball player to ever grace the hardwood.
@times2 your a fool…pippen is a top 50 great and jordan didnt win shit until he came(1-9 in playoffs smh)..then when he retired the first yr the bulls lost only 2 games more than they did the yr b4 when mj was there so the team was nice and pippen was ballin his ass off…then when mj came bak they got booted second round why they gave him a hall of famer n probably the greatest rebounder ever in rodman…..so stop the bullshit wit kobe had so much help n mj didnt …foh
MJ is the best shooting guard and player of all time. Kobe is the second best shooting guard ever. They can be compared because of similarities but even Kobe knows Jordan is better. Kobe is still top 10 all time though. And I knew someone would bring up LeBron somehow. People talk about Pippen, but LeBron never won without Wade and Bosh (sounds stupid doesn’t it?). Once LeBron retires he’ll have numbers that basically mirror Jordans. He’ll have more MVPs and who knows about rings. But at the end of the day people will still consider Jordan the greatest simply because he had a greater impact on the game of basketball (probably a greater impact than any other player in history). Also, think about this: What if the Jordan era had social media? Part of the reason LeBron gets these comparisons so easily is because you have people who never saw Jordan play (only know him by his shoes) all over social media making noise about it.
Just my 2 cents. I’m a fan of all three (raised in Cali as a Laker fan, saw Jordan play, and watching LeBron now).
@taco_meat i hear u, kobe also couldnt do shit witout shaq or gasol.
@times2 , u gotta mention also that he also acquired one of the best 2 best power forwards in the league at the time in pau gasol. witout him he couldnt get out the first round.
if kobe wants to discuss how it would’ve been if jordan played wit shaq, then jordan would probably have 5 more rings, and kobe would have 3 less rings
kobe changed his number cuz his mentality changed. needed to change his image too (aka colorado) and how many greats do u know wit single digit numbers?? don’t dr j me… and his reason for changin’ was of the mindset “how much can u do in 24 hrs”
there more u know lol
Nope. The only reason this argument exists is because people need something to talk about. Kobe isn’t even close. There was literally a time in the league when they stop giving Michael Jordan the MVP because he’d already won too many (Karl Malone, Shaq). Jordan completely dominated the league back when the league was dominated by big men and defense. Jordan was the first player to do what Lebron is doing now (i.e. assists, high efficiency, defense AND scoring a gang of points) and he did it all without the benefit of a dominate big man. People get the argument wrong. Its not so much that Jordan didn’t play with great players, he did. But Jordan made every one on the team better by playing within the system, keeping everyone involved and playing just as hard as the weakest dude on the bench. Kobe is a glorified volume scorer. Apples and Oranges is right. Kobe isn’t on MJ’s level. Lebron has a chance but we have to wait and see for that…
^^ This is correct.
Hands Down MICHAEL JORDAN is the GREATEST OF ALLTIME , Not LeBron, Not Kobe will come to that Title. so Stop It Now !
