Pusha T Talks About Those ‘Leaked’ Emails With Jay Z, Signing Desiigner, And More In Hot 97 Interview

Over the weekend, Pusha T found a few moments to do a quick interview at the BET Awards with Nessa from Hot 97. Among the list of topics were his collaboration with Jay Z for “Drug Dealers Anonymous,” his primary responsibilities as the president of G.O.O.D. Music, and the impact Reasonable Doubt had on his career.

He had this to say about the collaboration with Hov and spoke on those “leaked emails” that popped up after the song was released.

Pusha: I tell everybody all the time, man, the story is so lackluster because it was just like, I just sent the email and he was like “ahh, this is crazy.” You know. He really dialed in on it really really soon.

Nessa: The email chain that we saw, was that legit?

Pusha: Noooooooooo! That was like…the site being creative. And just transcribing it like I…you know…no. I didn’t give anybody the actual emails.

He spoke a bit about Desiigner, as Pyrex P was instrumental in signing him to the label. P said that Desiigner’s energy “has been a spark for all of us” and joked that Desiigner paid $200 for the “Panda” beat.

Nessa asked him about the twenty year anniversary for Reasonable Doubt and how the Thornton brother feels about the record. He told her, “without Reasonable Doubt, there’d be no Pusha T.”

His new album, King Push, is set to be released sometime this year.
