Rae Sremmurd And Ebro Are At It Again On Twitter Over ‘Black Beatles’

Hot 97 program director Ebro Darden probably doesn’t actually hate Mississippi duo Rae Sremmurd, it just seems like he does ever since he put up a fight with Complex magazine staffers after they ranked Rae Sremm’s debut album Sremmlife the No. 3 album of 2015. He debated the group of writers on air for all of us to hear, and even accused the duo of using Mike Will Made It to ghostwrite their music. From then on, a line was drawn in the sand for an old guard vs. new guard battle in rap, and their relationship has been a strained one ever since.

So it must have rankled Ebro just a bit when Rae Sremm’s latest single “Black Beatles” featuring Gucci Mane soared to the top of Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart this week. When he was questioned about it on Twitter, Ebro offered an underhanded compliment, calling the song “my sh*t” while also mentioning that “Black Beatles” climbed atop the charts just because of the #MannequinChallenge.

Now, never mind the fact that Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi helped make the #MannequinChallenge a viral sensation by participating in it, and that “Black Beatles” has become the unofficial soundtrack of the challenge thanks to their participation, so much so that Actual Beatle, Paul McCartney, used the track in his #MannequinChallenge. Let’s not give all the credit to a hashtag just yet.

Well, the eldest of the Brown brothers, Jxmmi, didn’t take too kindly to the barb, and quickly responded, setting off a series of tweets between the two, with a cameo appearance from fellow Ebro foe Lil Yachty.

Eventually Swae Lee chimed in, taking the high road.

He has a point. They should be used to this by now, Ebro is going to do what Ebro does. Just remember guys, “Haters mad for whatever reason.”
