Rob $tone’s Debut Mixtape Shows Why He’s ‘Ready’ To Take The Next Step

Following the slow, yet steady success of “Chill Bill,” emerging rapper Rob $tone keeps the momentum going with his debut project, I’m Almost Ready. The 16-track mixtape includes guest verses from Cousin Stizz, D.R.A.M., Denzel Curry, and Mitchy Slick, but $tone is more than capable of carrying a track all by his lonesome.

The San Diego based rapper has a unyielding, yet versatile flow which is just as comfortable on mid-tempo tracks as slower beats. With a keen ear for melody, $tone deftly switches between chest thumping rhymes and harmonizing without skipping a note. In particular, “Rolling $tone” stands out as his braggadocio rhymes destroy a looping guitar lick.

“I’m ’bout my money,
no answers for all these questions they asking
I see these cameras, they flashing
I f*cked your bitch ’cause I’m handsome
I’ll check you later, I’m dashing
In alligators I’m prancing”

“I knew I was meant for this,” $tone told Complex. “As I worked on this project I felt myself getting better with every song I made. This is me adapting to the changes in my life. Now I’m ready.”

$tone’s career trajectory continues rising as he joins A$AP Ferg and Playboi Carti on tour. Having already learned patience is a virtue, he has all the tools for success. As long as he keeps grinding, more good things will come.
